Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) is an American actor, singer and dancer. In her early Broadway roles, she played her role in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. Her first Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working with prominent directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford's upcoming project is a limited edition Hulu show called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford is working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust that stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It will also be available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway comeback will be on March 20, 2023. He is paired with Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the production. Ashford was Paula Jones, the main actor in Ryan Murphy's upcoming FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment trial in the United States in over a century. Ashford starred for two seasons in the CBS successful comedy B Positive. In addition, she appeared on the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured legendary actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. No stranger to Broadway Ashford has won both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her character Essie. Some other Broadway roles for Ashford include Sunday in the Park, as George Wicked legally Blonde, and her role as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance she received an Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and currently splits her time between Los Angeles, and New York.
